With the rising demands on inhabitancy environment, the applications of smart homes have become the inevitable trend of developments in dwelling house. This thesis is focused on the research of one lower-cost, simple and flexible embedded system, which uses portable terminals, such as mobile phone, PDA, and so on, to achieve long-distance communication through the GSM/GPRS networks. Furthermore, the ZigBee short-range-wireless technology is adopted to set up the family communication monitoring network. The thesis concentrates on the design of whole system, the study of abnormal condition monitoring algorithm, the establishment of hardware platforms, and software programming. Moreover, the main works and achievements of the thesis are as follow:The embedded system is established withμC/OS-Ⅱoperating system and S3C44B0X processor. Based on theμC/OS-Ⅱ's high real-time ability, convenient transplantation and extension, and ARM's high-performance, low-cost, abundant resources, embedded technology is adopted as the platform for smart home controller in the thesis.The abnormal target detection algorithm for indoor surveillance using the serial port camera is also researched. Methods of adaptive state detection, small targets detection and adaptive background replacement method are proposed. Methods of decoding of JPEG images, gray-scale conversion and binary processing are investigated. Corrosion and expansion technology is applied in noise elimination process of morphology.Based on MMS and SMS, wireless remote monitoring scheme is proposed for the first time. A MMS development board for TR800 is developed, programming of Xmodem agreement on embedded environment is accomplished, and the sending-receiving of MMS and SMS message is achieved. In addition, scheme of setting up family communication monitoring network with ZigBee short-range wireless technology is proposed. A wireless transceiver module based on the CC2430 is designed and the model's modules are set. The introduction of some environment sensors, such as smoke sensor and gas sensor, can effectively enhance the security of homes.The experimental results show that scheme proposed in the thesis is advanced and effective, which is able to meet the technical requirements of the long-distance home monitoring system.
