With the rapid development of computers and the intelligent technology, the intelligent control system is also developing fast in recent years. There are more and more demands of the vehicle monitoring systems for the safety monitoring that used for the vehicle operations and even higher requirements of the performance of the vehicle monitoring system. In this paper an improved algorithm for moving target detection based on the features of the vehicle monitoring system was proposed and designed.The mainly parts that were studied are as bellows:Firstly, An analysis of the current development status and the problems that exist in the video surveillance technology, motion detection technology and the vehicle control system of our own country and abroad were made. A systemic study and analysis of the basic theoretical knowledges of the image detection like image preprocessing, image segmentation, feature extraction and so on also were made.Secondly,An analysis of theories was done and the advantages and disadvantages between the three basic algorithms that frequently used in the target detection which are the background subtraction, inter-frame difference method, algorithm principles of the optical flow method were compared. The algorithm principles'study of the Gauss mixture model was mainly focused on, an improved dynamic scenes moving target detection algorithm based on the disadvantage of the moving target detection under the complex background of the Gauss mixture model was proposed.Finally, The reality of the hardware of the vehicle monitoring system which contains source module, video capture module, memory module and so on that based on DM6437 chip made by the TI company was precisely designed and the the overall hardware block diagram was given also.The design of the software parts in every models were under the condition of CCS3.3. The corresponding procedure has been optimized to improve the speed of the system.The feasibility and effectiveness of the moving target detection algorithm under complex background that proposed in this paper were showed by the result of the experiments and tests which was that the system achieved the goal to detect the moving target under a complex condition.
