This paper proposes a design of online detection machine for cigarette physical parameters. Using for 70 series of PHOTOS, the machine is able to automatically sample from production line of cigarette making machine. Thus, the important physical parameters, weight, circumference, length, moisture, density, pressure drop, are measured by the online detection machine. Through highly concern with important parameters of the production, the real productivity has been improved, ensured and well-alarmed.First, this paper presents the research and development backgrounds of topic related knowledge and develops the structure of cigarette online detection machine as a whole. Then, the realization methods and critical technologies are discussed respectively. The breif introduction of research background, from which powerful marketing protential of patent and utility models could be found, also gives out current situation of domestic and oversea reseach. The system is comsist of five main parts, sampling unit, weight unit, vision system unit, microwave unit, and pressure drop unit.After detail introduction of single units of the system, this paper describes the system from a designer's perspective. The ARM based design of cigarette online detection machine is divided into hardware design and software design. The hardware design is composed by chief functions of upper computer, chief functions of lower computer, sensors and exection components. The software design is composed by upper computer software, lower computer software and model communication and protocol.From the perspective of error analysis and data processing, this paper gives out the error analysis of cigarette online detection machine and the instrument resolution about parameters, length, diameter, pressure drop and weight. This part also presents the data comparison of the online detection system and oversea productions.
