With the advancement of science and technology and the development of robot technology, robots play a more and more important role in various fields of social production and life, there are also variety of robots appear in nowadays. Mobile robot as a branch of robotics, dealing with the emergency irreplaceable role in space exploration, deep sea exploration, dangerous work environment, military reconnaissance, counter-terrorism and other fields. Rapid development and popularization of the Internet as well as transmission speeds continue to increase, provides the robot remote control system a cheap and convenient communication tool. Network-based robot remote control technology expands the applications of mobile robots, becoming a new point of integration of network technology and robot technology, attracting more and more people's attention and concern, and also has become a new field of robotics.Firstly, we describe the development of mobile robot technology and Internet-based robot remote control technology, and define the indicators of mobile robot design in this paper. Through chosen a remote control toy car as the robot chassis, we design a modular, with part of the autonomous mobile robot platform features hardware system, and conduct on each functional unit design and selection.Then, we introduce the design and implementation of the mobile robot control system. Control software has four layers, which include control layer, decision-making, perception layer and driver layer, it also divides into two parts: microcontroller embedded software and PC control software and we carry on a detailed description on the design and implementation of the two parts.Next, we introduce the architecture and the specific implementation method of the mobile robot remote control system. The remote control system uses Internet-based remote control of human-computer interaction models and C / S structure, which departs into two parts of robot server and remote client, with TCP and UDP as the way of the transmission between the two parts, and use socket programming system to communicate with each other. Finally, we carry out the robot-side control experiment and the Internet-based network control experiment. Experiments show that the mobile robot and its remote control system meet the design goals. Mobile robot can run smoothly, sensor and image information can display properly in the PC side and remote control client side, the robot's automatic obstacle avoidance function performed well. If it would be improved, the mobile robot platform and its remote control system will have some prospect in the areas of reconnaissance patrols and counter-terrorism with a certain application.
