Integratioin of information system is a problem plaguing enterprises for many years. How to achieve a better, more effective and easier EAI solution has become a hot research topic. Combining the idea of SOA, ESB adopts open standards to provide a reliable, standards-based, distributed, scalable, integrated platform in order to rapidly achieve low cost application integration for enterprises. However, although most commercial ESB products have powerful function, and with high performance, security and reliability, but their structure is complex, cumbersome to config, not flexible enough, and very expensive, so that SME can not afford to introduce a complete commercial ESB product, and it is not necessary. What they really need is a easy to use, flexible and reliable ESB.In this article, considering the actual condition of SME, we analized the application integration needs of SME and summarized three characteristics including lightweight architecture, high flexibility and scalability, reliability. Then basing on the study about SOA theory and JBI specification we designed and implemented a lightweight ESB which is suitable for SME. With the advantage of opening up and scalability, JBI specification focuses on EAI and acheives the separatioin of business logic and communication protocols, and is compatible with a large number of third-party components, so that it can help enterprises to build an integrated, open, service-oriented and loose coupling IT support systems. This article mainly discusses the design and implement of basic module and three core modules of ESB including the lightweight kernel, message routing engine, distributed clustering module and management platform. Among, we proposed and implemented three design concept which is the major innovation of this article: The microkernel-based underlying structure for the ESB to provide a dynamic modular support; The rules-based message routing mechanism brings the ESB flexible message routing configuration; The distributed clutering and centralized management framework of the ESB greatly improves performance, flexibility and reliability. At last, we analyzed and studied the integration of informantion systems in a small financial and credit company using this ESB.This research topic is from the EAI research project of Guangzhou Middleware Research Center which aims to solve the EAI problem for the SME.
