As a way to improve outdoor coverage, femtocells have been extensively studied. It is a small base station, mainly aiming at wireless coverage of the home and small office environment, and providing wireless data transmission for specific customer groups in a limited range. Compared with macro cells, there is no poor indoor coverage problem due to high penetration loss. Moreover, femtocells have easy access mode and cheap cost.To deploy femtocells in OFDM system, the interference between macro cells and femtocells is introduced. In order to evaluate how great such negative impact femtocells have on macro-cell's performance, the deployment and research status are introduced at first in the work, and then uplink capacity of femtocell and macro cell in OFDM system is analyzed. Outage probability and ergodic capacity are deduced for different assumptions of home NodeB density, pathloss model and networking mode. At last, Matlab simulations are adopted to compare performance of different scenarios. The results show different networking mode should be adopted to satisfy the maximum total ergodic capacity under different home NodeB density, pathloss model and traffic demand conditions.
