Recently, with the Internet applications and the users of the internet increase, the quality of the network is required to be higher. From the aspect of the users, they need better real-time communication, more detailed multimedia data, and more stable network. From the aspect of the networks'operator, they need network with more bandwidth, more flexible strategies to manage the network with less cost. All these challenge the design of the modern network. As a result, many new networks come out, such as the 3G, LTE in the mobile network; NGN, FIND in the computer network; and IP over WDM, ASON in the optical network.As one of the most important problem in the network, I do some analysis and improvements about the routing problem on the base of some projects, for example, the research of the IP over WDM problems, the software system of network planning and optimization.First, I begin with the problem the shortest path problem which is one classic problem in the routing part. I analyze this problem respectively from three part, time complexity, room complexity and code complexity which are also combined with the data structure. Accordingly, I give some suggestion on how to choose the method from these I offer and I also give a special method for the shortest path problem.Second, I analyse the integrated routing scheme in the IP over WDM problem. The development of the IP over WDM and the three models must be known as a foundation. Then, I give a load balance method as one integrated routing scheme which I participate in the school laboratory.Last, in the part of the platform of network planning and optimization, I give the general design of the system. And I give a example of how to use the component method to realize the software system. For the important service and wavelength assignment part, I give the detailed steps to complete the required function. Meanwhile, I give the method to restore the capacity for different level services.
