The Design And Implementation Of Embedded Web Server Of Firewall For Network Management

With the continuous improvement of the performance of firewall, the configuration of the firewall is also increasingly complex. A strong firewall product without a well-designed management configuration module, its effectiveness might be on the compromised.It is the simplest, most common, most viable way to configure firewall through web. Therefore, this paper designs an embedded Web-based management system to achieve remote configuration of the firewall.Ajax technology which is based on B/S architecture is very popular currently, but few used in embedded systems.we just combine several techniques talked above to described a design of embedded Web server in detail, and implement an Ajax-based, multi-tasking, embedded web server of firewall in VxWorks-based embedded operating system.The password in the authentication system occupies a very important position, so it becomes essential to the protection of passwords. We adopted one-time password authentication mechanism which based on Challenge/Response to protect the password in the form.This paper mainly do the following work:deeply study the Vx Works operating system; make a brief on the Web related technologies, and focus on the Ajax technology; discuss the web-based firewall management; totally design embedded web server of firewall for network management, then design the embedded web server which is based on Ajax requests; design and implement the functional modules of the web server; test the web server which has been realized.From test results we can see that the reality of dynamic pages based on Ajax and the password puthentication module have been designed primarily to achieve the desired goals.the Web server can make correct response to Ajax-based requests from the front page, it can authenticate the user correctly and protect the user's password effectively too.
