Antenna is the most important component in wireless communication systems. Different antennas are required for different systems. In this paper, the designs of the antenna are in the need of EMC testing for mobile handsets and RFID systems.As electronic science and the development of the mobile communication, mobile handsets now integrated more and more functional modules. Between these electronic modules, it will inevitably produce electromagnetic interference, resulting in handset's performance especially in the increasing of the power consumption. Based on this practical problem, it is necessary to develop a set of high sensitivity and portable EMC testing system for mobile handsets. The most critical component of the EMC testing system for mobile handsets is the UWB detecting antenna. According to miniaturization, portability, high sensitivity performance of the EMC testing system, the UWB detecting antenna should have the characteristic features of small size, light weight, ultra-wideband and omni-directional radiation pattern.Based on the demands of the EMC testing system for mobile handsets, this paper presents a novel ultra-wideband planar elliptical dipole antenna, which has ultra-wideband feature, small size and omni-directional radiation pattern. This ultra-wideband planar elliptical dipole antenna can be well applied in the EMC testing system for mobile handsets and make the system detecting the minimum-127dBm signal.RFID systems are now widely used in management and identification of the goods. According to the applications, the RFID tags should in a small size and could be mounted on the metallic surface. Based on the demands of the RFID applications, this paper presents two novel RFID tag antennas which are planar fractal dipole antenna and "Z" shape slot antenna. The planar fractal dipole antenna is good for miniaturization and the slot antenna could be mounted on the metallic surface. They are all well applied for RFID application system.
