The Design And Implementation Of An Internet Information Broadcasting Station For Mobile Terminals

The Internet has become an important way to obtain information for humans. With the development of techniques, mobile phones, PDAs and other mobile devices, become an important part of people's daily life. However, the explosive growth of the Internet, as well as its faster and faster update rate challenges the ability of humans to process and assimilate the information. It happens more and more often that the information obtained is not what is wanted. Thus how to help people, especially those who are not proficient in the use of Internet, obtain the information they want easily and convieniently has become a hot research topic. Crawling, sorting and aggregating the Internet information can help provide a certain type of information to users. Radio broadcasting techniques enable the effective distribution of large amounts of information to mobile users. However, the wireless link is sensitive to error, especially in the broadcasting environment where no feedback channel can be used. How to ensure reliable transmission of data is challenging. In addition, it is necessary to innovate the way of information dissemination because of limitations in power, processing capability and storage capacity of mobile terminal.People who are in the same community have more common topics. They need common entertainment, information, communication and other services. Hence, it is necessary to provide services which enable convenient communication within a community.The focus of the work in this theis is to provide better information services for mobile terminals in the wireless broadcasting environment, and help users obtain the information they require. The following four major issues concerning the design and implementation of an information providing system are discussed. (1) How to utilize the limited bandwidth effectively to distribute Internet information and how to reduce the distribution of duplicated content. How to organize information and how to ensure that the latest information crawled can be distributed in time. (2) How to generate effective broadcasting strategies according to limitations of power, processing capability and storage capacity of mobile terminals. (3) How to ensure the reliability of the data broadcasting in wireless environment. (4) How to provide better user experience, so that people in the same community can communicate more conveniently.
