As the evolution of mobile communication to broadband communication,3GPP strated the standardization of LTE to compete with WiMAX. The inter-cell interference has became a bottleneck of LTE, so the interference coordination technology is researched widely.As the standardization of LTE is nearly completed in March,2008, the standardization of LTE-Advanced which is based on LTE started by 3GPP. Much higher average user rate and cell edge user rate are required in LTE-Advanced, therefore, the coordinated multiple points technology is raised to eliminate the interference.In this paper, the background and evolution of wireless communication are introduced at first. Then three important interference suppression technologies are described, including interference randomization, interference coordination and interference elimination. The inter-cell interference coordination and interference elimination which is based on coordinated tranmission are chiefly introduced in this paper, and the system simulation results are provided. The evolution of interference elimination technologies is given in the end.
