With the rapid development of P2P technology and SIP network in their respective area, more and more organizations have started to do some studies on how to combine the advantages of the both P2P and SIP. P2P (Peer-to-Peer) has the advantages of high scalability, robustness and fault tolerance, gained great successes in file sharing, distributed storage, distributed calculation and so on. SIP is a protocol of application layer for creating, modifying and terminating multimedia session in IP network. And due to the advantages of simplicity, agility, strong expansibility and so on, SIP is gradually becoming the core protocol in NGN and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Considering the traditional SIP network which uses C\S mode, has the problem of server bottleneck, failure of single point and so on, how to use the P2P technology to realize the resource orientation to improve the reliability of the SIP network becomes one of the research focus on SIP network.This paper firstly analyzes the characteristic and structure of SIP, the functional entity in SIP network and SIP messages, the architecture and characteristic of P2P network and the integration program of the P2P-SIP. Then it studies the typical structured P2P overlays, compares and analyzes their performance based on the requirements of P2PSIP. And then some problems of SIP network introducing P2P technology for resource locating are included.Secondly, for the P2PSIP terminals'heterogeneous and the state table's redundancy and high maintenance cost, I propose a hierarchical Bamboo network model. In this hierarchical network model, nodes are divided in to group according to their physical location and in each group the nodes are classified in to super node, index node and ordinary node. The super node is responsible for the management and routing of nodes in its group. The index node and ordinary node only maintains little information of other nodes. It achieved the purpose that reducing the load for system maintenance cost and improving the routing efficiency.Finally, I design a hierarchical P2PSIP network framework based on the improved Bamboo. I mainly analyzed the operation of the nodes in the system, such as join, register, lookup, departure and so on. I setup the P2PSIP platform in OverSim based on P2PNS and give a performance evaluation of the system.The achievements of this paper on the performance analysis of the P2P core algorithm, the improved Bamboo overlay, routing algorithm and the design of the P2PSIP network provide new ideas and methods on how to improve the performance to P2P network and the robustness, fault tolerance and reliability of the SIP network.
