Continuous casting was an important metallurgical technology.Mould level control was the key technology because of its critical influence on production safety and product quality.The fluctuating of mould level is the main reason of the dregs'entangled in steel liquid.What was worse.the leak and overflow might be caused.If that really happened,the workers would be injured and the equipments would be destroyed. Metallurgical corporation now pay more and more attention on mould level control technology.PID controller was be widely used in mould level control. The effect of PID controller, however,not always meet the requirements.It would become worse and worse.The reason was obvious,that is,the systerm was time-vary ing.In this paper, recursive least squares method with forgetting factor was used to identify the system. Zero-pole placement method was used to calculate the controller parameters according to the model which was choosed.The calculation was based on system identification.The adaptive mould level control was actualized in this way.An mould level fildbus control system based on adaptive control algorithm was designed in this paper.The system was composed of measure instrument,PLC,PC, electric cylinder and operation box.Each part communicated with others though PROFIBUS.It has been found that the control effect was satisfactory and the product quality and production safety were guaranteed.
