With the rapid development of communications technology in recent years, more and more wireless communication systems provide users with heterogeneous network environment. However, different access technology have different bandwidth, transmission delay, coverage and mobility support, there is no a wireless network to simultaneously satisfy the wide coverage, low latency, high bandwidth, low-cost, etc., so a wireless network interoperability and integration between will become an inevitable trend. Handoff is the key technology to achieve integration of heterogeneous wireless networks. But, the traditional horizontal handoff control strategy can not reflect the heterogeneous network convergence characteristics and needs. So according to the complexity of heterogeneous wireless networks and particularity, we proposed a vertical handoff algorithm for heterogeneous wireless networks based on Game Theory in this paper. Mainly include:1. In this paper, we use a typical heterogeneous network handoff scenario to study the vertical handoff decision algorithm.2. In the heterogeneous wireless networks, there is a case of the single node chooses various networks, this paper uses Auction Game Theory to slove this problem. Accroding to the case that many mobile nodes choose various networks in complex handoff scenario, we use decision-making Game to improve the algorithm above in order to solve load balancing between optional networks and present a vertical handoff based on Game Theory. Once the mobile node moves to the network coverage area overlaps and makes a bidding project, optional network calculates satisfaction based on their load conditions to update the tender price dynamically in the auction model.3. Experiments show that the improved algorithm not only avoids unnecessary handoff, but also ensures load balancing between the various networks.
