The Design And Impelementation Of Host Monitoring System In Heterogeneous Networks

Along with the rapid grows of the IT industry, the scale of the computer network is becoming larger and larger, which resulted in its rising failue rate and it`s more difficult to manage it well than the past. It's important to manage the network effectively and keep the running quality of the network.Host monitoring and management is a part can not be ignored, by using a host monitoring and management system, we can rationally organize the host resource and improve host resource utilization, so that we can gain more with less cost.SNMP is always used in network management system, but it`s impossible to obtain all the data you need and some kind of data isn` t provided by SNMP. My thesis is focusing on the research the hosts on the heterogeneous network, by using new network technologies; I designed and realized a host monitoring and management system. The primary work of this dissertation are as follows:1. Learned how to collect performance data from the host with different operating system. Realize data collecting agent for the corresponding OS;2. Used XML to discribe the collected performance data, so it` s very convenient to expand the system.3. Leaned the feature of the performance data. By strategy of time distance, took a way of merge to persist the data;4. Realised multi-limen warning;5. Leaned EJB 3.0 and realized the system based on this framework;6. Designed and realised the interface of this system, illustrated the performance data by the way of curve with different color.
