After the issue of 3rd Generation mobile phone licenses, the construction of networks start on a large scale. Being a member of 3G family CDMA2000 1X EVDO system is putting to use in China. Along with the construction the network optimigation is also stepping to the peak time. There is a good market of the equipments for network optimigation, such as road-test phone, spectrum scanner.Because the research and application of the communication technology of 3rd Generation has been carried out for many years abroad, the equipment market for engineering and network are occupied by developed countries, especially for the equipments of WCDMA and CDMA2000. Currently the CDMA2000 scanner market in China has been completely occupied by other countries'products. And the high price is harmful to the 3rd generation engineering of China. So in order to reduce the cost we should develop our own CDMA2000 scanner. This paper is focused on the study and implementation of frame synchronization algorithm on EVDO System which is implemented in CDMA2000 scanner.The physical layer of EVDO system has no information to determine the beginning of a frame. We must analyze the higher layers to achieve the frame synchronization. In addition, the pilot channel of EVDO system is not continuous. It makes more difficult to implemented channel estimation. The algorithm we chosen is to decode the control channel and capture the synchronization packets to determine the boundary of a frame. And a simplified algorithm of linear interpolation has been raised to realize the channel estimation. The overall performance has meet the requirements.
