Research Of The Technologies Based On NETCONF

With the further development of the Internet, more and more people participate in the study of the next generation network management system. The NETCONF protocol is a burgeoning network configuration protocol, which makes use of XML in encoding and provides mechanisms to install, manipulate, and delete the configuration of network devices. However, as the NETCONF protocol has just become the new standard in network management, there are many issues to be discussed. For example, which method would be used for parsing XML in NETCONF? And NETCONF protocol uses an XML (Extensible Markup Language)-based data encoding for the configuration data as well as the protocol messages. Whereas, it did not state clearly which data model it would use to form the network devices'information.To address the above problems, we studied the currently fashionable XML parsing technologies:SAX and DOM, and made a comprehensive comparison between them. Then their respective advantages and disadvantages in NETCONF will be showed in this dissertation.What's more, in this dissertation the advantages and disadvantages of organizing and saving network facilities' information separately in the tree data model and the table-like data model will be focused on and the impact of these two data models on the filtering performance of NETCONF system will also be discussed.
