Having the ability of dealing with high-speed, broad-bandwidth, great-capability signal, all-optical signal processing becomes a key technology for future all-optical communications networks and can break through "electronic bottleneck" effect due to the photo-electric-photo transformation of the nodes. As an important component of all-optical signal processing, all-optical logic Exclusive OR (XOR) can be used for data encoding, signal regeneration, parity check and label switch and so on.Semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) is able to produce a variety of nonlinear effects, such as Cross-Gain Modulation (XGM), Cross-Phase Modulation (XPM) and Four-Wave Mixing (FWM) and so on. All-optical logic XOR based on the nonlinear effects of SOA has so many merits, such as compact fabric, high nonlinearity, low power consumption, steady performance and easy integrated and so on, and now it becomes the hot point of research.Optical code division multiple (OCDM) is a novel technology which combines code division multiple which is applied in wireless communication field with optical fiber communications. And it has strong technical advantages, which will become one of the resolutions for future broadband passive optical network. It has significant research sense to apply all-optical logic XOR into OCDM technology and it will improve the data security.All-optical logic XOR based on the nonlinear effects of SOA and its applications in OCDM are analyzed theoretically and simulated in the thesis:First, the basic theories and its function application of the three nonlinear effects of SOA, including Cross-Gain Modulation, Cross-Phase Modulation and Four-Wave Mixing, are represented. And the wavelength conversion functions based on these three nonlinear effects are also simulated and analyzed. Second, the principles of various all-optical logic XOR schemes based on the nonlinear effects of SOA are given and the performance comparisons among them are analyzed. The simulations and performance analysis of logic XOR and reverse XOR schemes based on semiconductor optical amplifier in Mach-Zehnder interferometer (SOA-MZI) structure are made by two methods. And the parameter points of best XOR effect are investigated. Last, multi-rate OCDM system and OCDM encryption system based on multimedia communication services are researched, and a novel multi-rate OCDM encryption system based on SOA-MZI is proposed for the first time. This encryption system is simulated and the simulation result proves the feasibility of this scheme, and it has a certain reference for the realization of future all-optical secure networks.
