With the growing dependence on information, the primary issue of designing network is to guarantee the survivability of the network, because if the communication network goes wrong or invalidate, great lose will be brought to the society. Nowadays, the technologies of SDH network protection is relatively mature while the WDM protection in optical layer is also gradually improved. The development of the connection of optical layer in the area of OTN has come into being as a result of the development of fiber communication technology and the emergence and development of optical cross-connect facilities (wavelength level and link level).Except the one manufacturer (optical protection channel switch), most of the WDM network protection is based on 1+1 channel protection rather than ring protection, which is cased by the framework of the existing network. The traditional WDM network Topology could be changed as a result of the introduction of OTN facilities which possess. Cross capacity of large-capacity electric field. The network is getting complicated gradually. OTN will make the network complicate. The direct application of the available protection method on the complicate mesh network will cause a series of problems such as waste, meanwhile the layouts of network protection is getting complicated.Centered upon the research subject of "the research and application of new protection patterns of OTN", this paper brings out new protection patterns based on OTN which is suitable for the real mesh network topology with the target of commercial application in the future. This plan possesses sound resource utilization rate, reliability and unique protection ability of multi-malfunction. The WASON platform will be used to realize the main steps of the protection plan and the correctness will be tested by software.The proposed plan is suitable for the mesh-network of OTN and possesses higher resource utilization rate, reliability, rapid-react ability and unique protection ability of multi-malfunction compared with the former plans. The commercial value is huge because of its simple operation procedures and maximal Inheritance ability.
