In recent years, with the continuous development of the network, the scale of network has increased rapidly and the number of Internet users has risen sharply. Today's Internet constantly profoundly affects the way people work and live, but also brings new problems, such as the propagation of the negative information, the disclosure of business or personal confidential information and so on. Both business users and individual users propose higher and higher requirements on the network quality of service. So the analysis and audit of network traffic have become the focus attention of the industry. This paper begins by describing the background and significance of network traffic analysis, studies the related technologies on network traffic analysis, including the demand, architecture and methods of network traffic analysis. And it deeply studies protocol analysis technology based on the network services, concerning the packet reduction technology based on protocol stack, analysis technology on application-layer services and so on. In this paper, a detailed study and analysis on popular web mail services and electronic bulletin board service has been carried out. And on this basis, it designs and implements network traffic analysis system based on the services. The system could monitor and analyze the total network traffic based on network services within a sub-network scale. At last, the network log protocol has been introduced. Based on this a network content audit system is designed and implemented, which could analyze and audit the network traffic from different sub-network when it is deployed on the scale of the Internet. Finally, the research work of this paper has been summarized and the evolution of network traffic analysis and audit system has been prospected.
