Wireless sensor networks integrated sensor technology, embedded computing technology, wireless communication technology and distributed information processing technology. It was a revolution in the field of information sensing. A single node couldn't guarantee the data accuracy because of its factors and environmental impact. For numerous and dense nodes, transmitting all the sensory data would cause a great waste of network resources due to a certain degree of information redundancy between the sampled data. According to data aggregation technology, transmitting processed data not raw data would effectively save energy and network resources. The paper carried out in-depth research on data aggregation techniques, the main contributions include:Firstly, the paper described the research at home and abroad based on deeply survey, including how to select the data aggregation position, how to select the data aggregation time and the typical aggregation algorithm.Secondly, the paper proposed a kind of data aggregation strategy from redundant data processing point based on the clustered network. The strategy kept the track of data flow. After analyzing the sensory data quantification form and characteristic attributes, the paper respectively described the typical aggregation algorithm based-on the data correlation degree and association analysis according to classification result.In order to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of aggregation strategy, the paper respectively provided scalar data aggregation scheme and image data aggregation scheme.For scalar data, the paper developed the aggregation algorithm by NesC language programming and run the simulation in TOSSIM environment to realize the data redundant processing. The test result indicated data aggregation technology could efficiently decrease data redundancy, prolong network lifetime and ease network congestion.For image data, the paper integrated SIFT stitching algorithm and Gstreamer multimedia architecture based on Linux platform. The test result indicated that data aggregation technology could save the network bandwidth but at time delay cost. This scheme was suitable for application in which time delay was not strictly required.Based on the implementation of the specific data aggregation scheme, the paper further mined the typical wireless sensor network application.
