Research And Development Of Network Server Monitoring System

Network has gone deeply into people's life, with the development of computer networks and the Internet become more and more popular. Now people even can not live and work without network and many services are provided on the Internet, such as playing game, Instant Messaging, BBS, push mail, and so on. All the services are come from Internet and the sources of all services are various network servers. That are servers which are providing the services on the Internet and the servers are the convergent point of the network traffic. The performance and the security of the server all have an influence over the service providing to users as we know. How to judge one server whether it is popular on the Internet as so many servers are existed at the same time? How is users'attitude towards the service provided by this server? Then network traffic monitor is raised and become more and more popular as it is the main measure to do that. The traffic to the server can be captured at the entrance to the server, then the characteristics of users' online behavior can be obtained and the quality of the service provided also can be evaluated by the data and information which is extracted from the data after analyzing the captured traffic. All this can do a great benefit to the service provider as it can help them to improve the service quality and is really good for business polices-making.A solution of network server traffic monitoring system, which is based on network traffic analysis, is brought forward in this paper by researching into the design and development of traffic monitoring system based on traffic monitoring technology and protocol analysis technology. Combined with traffic analysis and the adoption of the MVC architecture of Struts 2.0, do collection to network traffic, obtain given protocol's message, analyze and extract valid data, then do statistics calculations by the system, and data table and graph will be generated by the system, then the information about servers can be easily to analyzed and managed, so is the solution. Some technologies like permission control, database connection pool, visual configuration, and black and white list, are all used in the system also.
