As the world is becoming more and more information-based, the higher quality of the mobile communication is continuously required. The technology in the field of the mobile communication is rapidly developing to meet the needs of the society. CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is the central radio interface technology of 3G mobile communication standards which mainly includes CDMA2000, WCDMA and TD-SCDMA. Since the standards of the CDMA2000 series are mature enough and a number of advanced technologies are applied in the evolution, CDMA2000 has drawn much attention in the industry. This paper studies the key technologies both in the simulation aspect and in the theoretical way. In the CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. A, which belongs to the CDMA2000 series, the reverse link adopts the technologies of HARQ, token-bucket and interference cancellation (IC) which greatly improve the system capacity. Theoretical analysis and the system-platform simulation are carried on in the paper to find their effects quantitatively. The results show that IC can make the reverse link system capacity of CDMA2000 upgraded to 1.6 times to the system without IC.IC technology is an important method in improving the CDMA system capacity. However, the theoretical analysis of the CDMA system capacity with IC technology hasn't been studied. This paper does the research of the CDMA system capacity with IC theoretically in detail and gives the results in mathematical expressions. The CDMA system stability with IC is also studied. The mathematical expressions are employed in the CDMA2000 series standards made a comparison with the simulation results.Since the development of indoor base stations is really rapid, this paper also studies the handover algorithms in the two hierarchy network composed of the traditional CDMA macro-cells and the embedded Femtocells. The proposed algorithms, considered the serving quality of the base-stations and the velocity of the mobiles, greatly reduce the handover frequency of the moving mobiles.
