3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the evaluation of 3G standards, it is a "Quasi-4G" system developed on the basis of the research of B3G systems in the past period. Improving the data rate and spectral efficiency is the main challenge of LTE. MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) wireless communications technology can use the multi-path fading and improve the spectral efficiency and the system's capacity significantly, so the MIMO technology is a key technology of LTE system. This paper focus on the multiple antenna techniques in LTE.It will introduce the physical layer technologies firstly, mainly about the multiple-access mode, frame structure, downlink physical channel, as well as the physical layer process; Secondly, it will introduce the multiple antenna techniques emphasis, first it will analyze the radio channel capacity of MIMO system, and then it will introduce the multiple antenna technologies used in LTE, including the transmission diversity, the spatial multiplexing and the beamforming. We will analyze the performance of different MIMO schemes in LTE using the system level simulation, so in chapter 4 it will introduce the conception of system level simulation and the process of simulation as well as some methods of modeling. In the last part, it will present and analyze the simulation results including three cases:the difference of these multiple antenna techniques, the influence of scenario for different multiple antenna techniques and the influence of antenna configuration for different multiple antenna techniques.
