As an important branch of signal processing, array signal processing employs a group of array elements which are distributed in different spatial positions to receive and further process the impinging signals in digital domain. The purpose of the array signal processing is to achieve characteristic information of the received signal and mitigate interference and noise. DOA estimation,which is also called spatial spectrum estimation, plays a critical role in the array signal processing. The goal of DOA estimation is to identify the positions where a number of interested signals come from. In other words, the impinging angles of all the signals are the objective parameters we make effort to estimate.So far, a lot of exciting results have been achieved in the DOA estimation research work. After reading a lot of literatures in this area, the author learns the various DOA estimation approaches. Furthermore, some beneficial schemes are deployed. The dominant work in the dissertation is illustrated as follows:①The fundamental signal model utilized in DOA estimation is introduced firstly, such as the model of array antenna, the narrow band array signal and wide band array signal, so on and so forth. The statistical model of array signal processing is also analyzed.②The traditional DOA estimation algorithms are addressed following the previous section. The performances of these approaches are compared by computer simulation.③The subspace-based narrow band MUSIC algorithm is stated in detail. We propose a new algorithm in the procedure of spectrum peak searching. The analysis for the performance is presented with some simulations which illustrate the number of addition and multiplication in the new algorithm is reduced by 30%-50%.④The wide band MUSIC algorithm is studied from the frequency point of view. The performance of the strategy is explained on various band conditions. Finally, we draw a conclusion that the narrower the bandwidth of signal is, the more accurate the DOA estimation holds.
