Along with the raise of the Green Manufacturing concept in industry, green machining had become a hot topic in modern manufacturing, Conventional machining began to search for new techniques and methods to reduce the environmental pollutions and protect the health of workers. Because the elements in cutting fluid of traditional machining such as sulfur, phosphorus and chlorine has pollutions to environment and serious damage to human health, there was an urgent need of finding green and clean method which has good performance in cooling and lubrication. Spray cooling method has the features of green, no pollution and good performance in cooling and lubrication, it is feasible in actual production. Spray cooling method integrated the advantages of cryogenic gas-liquid two phrase flow and enhanced heat transfer of fully vaporization, give full play to the potential of cooling medium and obtain the best cooling effect. Spray cooling method has been proved a green, no-pollution and high efficient cooling method.The most important issue of Spray cooling was how to control the proportion between the spray size and cutting temperature. Using temperature controller to control the flow rate of the spray was the current study. Based on spray cooling method, a fuzzy temperature controller was designed by learning fuzzy control algorithm and using the chip microcontroller of AT89C55. The system was constructed by four modules which are temperature signal acquisition module, man-machine communication module which implemented temperature setting and display, D/A output control module and environmental temperature measurement module.The corresponding temperature of the controller was set by using the keyboard, and the current temperature was acquired by the environmental temperature measurement module. The difference value between the setting and current temperature was computed by the microcontroller, then the difference value was transferred into the fuzzy control program,the corresponding output was calculated by the fuzzy rules and fuzzy criteria, after clarity procedure, the control output was acquired and the whole control process was completed. The hardware circuit of the entire temperature controller was designed by the Altium Designer,and the control program was developed by KeilĪ¼Vision3. In the environment of Matlab, the Fuzzy controller was compared with the traditional PID controller by combining the Fuzzy Logic Toolbox and Matlab/Simulink. Experimental results prove the robustness of the controller and show that the designed system is feasible and practical in spray cooling process.
