Research in artificial retina electrodes has become a hotspot nowadays, along with the development of Bio-Medical technology and Bio-MEMS.MEMS is a kind of technology involving micro-electronics science, mechanical design, auto-Control theory, material science, optical science, bio-medical science, acoustics and electromagnetism. Device in micro and nano dimension can be fabricated by MEMS technology. The research of MEMS includes micro-sensor, micro-actuator and varieties of micro-systems, which have been the hotspots of the investment all over the world. Bio-MEMS is applied in vitro diagnostic devices and vivo implanted devices.Visual prosthesis is a kind of artificial system applied in blindness medical technology. The system is made up of 4 parts: imaging processing subsystem, wireless data transceiver and power supply subsystem, stimulation pulse generate subsystem, outside and inside micro-electrodes. There are 3 types of visual prosthesis: visual cortex prosthesis, optic nerve prosthesis, and retina prosthesis. In the last several years, research on retina prosthesis has become a very important area in Bio-MEMS.Two most common outer retinal degenerative diseases are age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinitis pigmentosa (RP), and the implantation of micro-retina-prosthesis has been proved a potential way to cure these two diseases. Artificial-retina-electrodes device is an important part of retina prosthesis. The content of our research work:A type of single-layer Artificial-retina-electrodes with 4×5 arrays is designed, fabricated and packaged. The electrochemistry performance and the surface morphology are characterized after fabrication process. A new fabrication process of PI micro-patterning is introduced, and a new type of single-layer Artificial-retina-electrodes is manufactured. A type of 2-layer artificial-retina-electrodes is also fabricated and the electrochemistry performance is characterized.
