Continuous and reliable health monitoring is in urgent need, especially for patients with disease of digestive tract. We are focused on wireless localization for in-vivo capsule endoscope in this thesis. Details of design and implementation of the new localization system is presented in this thesis.We investigated the present status and development trend of in-vivo capsule endoscope firstly, and a brief introduction about structure and principle of in-vivo capsule endoscope was given. Then we analyzed some localization schemes of in-vivo capsule. Nowadays, most of localization scheme for in-vivo capsule endoscope is at the prototype stage, and no perfect solution is presented. We proposed a new wireless localization scheme based on 3D antenna array in this thesis. The circuit design and implementation, including RFID reader and tag design, is the most important task in this thesis. We did research on all the function modules of the localization system. Theory analysis, circuit simulation and PCB reference design of all the function modules are presented. Antenna is another important component in RFID system. We stated the role of antenna in RFID system and its major parameters. Furthermore, we tested the antenna pattern in Anechoic Chamber. Position center search algorithm is a critical part in our localization system. We proposed 2 kinds of position algorithms, one is location estimation by calculating center of gravity of detected reader antennas, and the other is location estimation by scanning matching point with adaptive step.In general, we are focused on research of wireless localization system for in-vivo capsule endoscope with 3D antenna array surrounding human body. We designed the system with safe UHF frequency, because the localization system is used for the in-vivo environment. We believe that the experience gained in the process of our design and implementation would serve as an important reference for the future in-vivo capsule endoscope.
