The basic flow of the structured light technique is listed here. The projector first projects the structured light on to the target. Then the camera takes the photo of the scene and transfers it into the computer who will make an analysis of the picture. Finally we get a data relation among the projector view, the computer view and the target which helps us to reach the goal of augmented reality. The main idea of this thesis is researching on the structured light based modeling. We especially consider a typical pattern: the chessboard pattern. Our main works are listed below:(1) According to our research on homography, we can consider the projected planar to be approximated by many small plane surfaces. Combined with the property of the chessboard pattern, we have successfully formed a complete system to achieve our goal of geometry correction on complex surfaces.(2) We have described all the components of our system in details. The detection of the corners from the complex surface is the first technique to be mentioned.(3) The concept of the voronoi diagram is showed to help us with the matching of the disordered corner points from the last step. We have used it to finish a complete corner matching algorithm.(4) Some analyses on choosing of the system?s parameters are made based on some experimental results. We have found the relations between the parameters and the results, efficiency and feasibility of the system. The thesis?s main contribution is the algorithm which is named as"corner matching algorithm based on the voronoi diagram". It could release the effect of the configuration of the corners in the chessboard pattern, to reach our target of geometry correction. From the results we find that our system has advantages in the correction results and the using ranges. At the same time, we believe that the system will be more robust if the speed of the algorithm can be further accelerating.
