In order to improve management level in hospital and effectively control cost of clinical treatment, electronic clinical pathway has become imperativetrend. Management system of clinical pathway is an application of computertechnology into clinical pathway management. Electronic clinical pathwaydoes not mean direct computerization of clinical pathway. A full range ofproblems have to be considered, such as automatically control of clinicalprocess, analysis of variance in clinical pathway, scheduling optimization ofparallel clinical pathways, etc. This research primarily focuses on modelingand scheduling optimization of clinical pathway, results have been achievedas follows:First, Hierarchical Timed Colored Petri Net (HTCPN) is applied asmodeling tool, to construct model and simulate the whole clinical process ofcomplicated diseases. In the model, sequence dependency of activities isvividly described and medical workers can monitor current physical conditionof patients and implementation of treatment. With standardized procedureestablished in advance and parameter setup in key point, HTCPN model willautomatically determine subsequent activities. By doing so, automaticimplementation and process coordination of clinical pathway is established.Through adding or jumping to sub-process module, dynamic adjust of clinicalpathway is feasible. Meanwhile, analysis and treatment of variance isavailable based on knowledge. Through hierarchical timed colored Petri netbased modeling of clinical pathway, process monitoring, self-adapteddecision-making and variance analysis problems have been solved. Thereby, control cell has been established for single case.Second, Hybrid Genetic Algorithm is utilized to optimize the clinicalpathway scheduling optimization problem. Start and finish time of every taskwill be determined in acceptable range of time. Beside of the sequence, properresource is allocated to each clinical task. As a result, near optimal or optimalscheduling solution will be reached, and length of stay will be controlledwhen multi clinical pathway paralleled. Based on scheduling methodproposed in the research, this phase has built coordinate mechanism forparallel clinical pathways.In summary, modeling and scheduling method of clinical pathways hasbeen implemented to support the realization of electronic clinical pathway.The result provides decision-making mechanism for management system ofclinical pathway. Therefore, this research has both theoretical and practicalsignificance in exploration of electronic clinical pathway.
