Based on the 21 consonants in Chinese, Continuous Phone-Repeating Ability (CPRA) tests a personal's repeating ability to a certain consonant when speaking a sentence. The hearing-impaired children can usually articulate the single, double or triple phone, but their speech has poor intelligibility in the process of Continuous Phone-Repeating. In order to discover the characteristic of the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children, and summarize the relationship between the Articulation Ability (AA) and the CPRA of them, the research evaluates and analyses the CPRA of 48 hearing-impaired children with Cochlear Implants or Hearing Aids and 71 normal ones which are both at the age of 3-5. In the end, the suggestion about how to train the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children is put forward. The research contents and results are as follows:1. Comparison of the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children and normal ones:1) The CPRA of the hearing-impaired children is obviously weaker than the normal ones (with respect to articulation place:F=92.590, p<0.01; with respect to articulation type: F=60.512, p<0.01), which confirms that it is necessary to improve the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children.2) As they growing up, the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children develops gradually. Furthermore,3,4and 5 are all key age for them to form this ability. As a result, we should design proper anticipative goals before intervention.2. The characteristic of the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children:1) The CPRA of the hearing-impaired children can be classified to four difficulty levels:the first level is Bilabial, the second level is Alveolar and Velar, the third level Dentilabial and Palatal, and the fourth one is Dental and Retroflex. Each level can be further assorted from the articulation type. This conclusion determines the sequences of the intervention material.2) To the hearing-impaired children, the AA is evidently better than the CPRA (p<0.01), which concludes that these two abilities present different levels of speech, and in order to improve the latter, we should have special intervention.3) There is a high correlation between the AA and the CPRA for the hearing-impaired children(r>0.8), which indicates that the splendid AA could promote the CPRA.3. The intervention to the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children. According to the characteristic of the CPRA of the hearing-impaired children, this paper brings forward the intervention materials and methods. The materials include large numbers of sentences about the 21 consonants, and the intervention methods introduced in the paper are decomposition-integration, questions-answers etc. At last, through an intervention to the CPRA of the dentilabial/f/and palatal/j,q, x/of a hearing-impaired case, the validity of the intervention materials and methods is tested.
