With the rapid development of the digital multimedia technology and computer networks, information security has become a focus of research questions in today's society, while the Steganography techniques applied to various areas of society and everyday life. Steganography technique is playing an irreplaceable role in the society and daily life.First, this article wrote a brief introduction of the Steganography technology of the present status ,development trends and applications.Then given a more comprehensive overview of the digital image steganography technology-related theory and basic knowledge. introduced the relationship between Steganography technology and the human visual system, the basic concepts of steganography, the basic principles and the classification of steganography ,and more over the points that a steganography system should be considered. And then the article presented the theoretical basis of the digital image steganography technology, summed up the the application of classic method of least significant bit, common scrambling algorithm, watershed algorithm and SOM neural network, the relevant theoretical basis , strengths and weaknesses.At last, present an Adaptive Partitioning based Information Hiding Algorithms. This method first used watershed algorithm segment carrier image, using Arnold scrambling algorithm to encrypt the secret image, and then the results of watershed segmentation was clustered by SOM neural network .The clustering was for two purpose :clustering the over segmented parts and determining the category of the new clustering parts. Finally ,the trained SOM same network classifyied the secret image and then the secret image was hidden to the carrier with the same type of image parts,so the hidden is not to improve visibility.we take MATLAB as the platform to conduct tests, gain experimental results and use the analyze them.
