Pest can bring huge losses to agricultural production. To control pests, chemicals drags are used numerously in the production, which results in killing pests'natural enemies, making secondary pests be the major ones, and pesticide residues in environmental pollution and the enhance of aphids drug-resistance. Biological pest control is a clean and environmentally friendly means, which is without pollution, and specialized to pests without pesticide residues and danger to human and animals, and has been the desired in agricultural production. However, the main strength of biological control - natural enemies with large quantities, confusing and complex of common name and scientific name, different feeding habits and shapes; at the same time, state to control insect pests is not the same, knowledge of enemies is difficult master. Despite the large number of related information on internet, but because of repetitive, disorganized and other reasons, it is often difficult for users to find needed information.An ontology can present domain knowledge in a clear and formal way. As a common understanding of knowledge in a particular field, domain ontology is collections of concepts and relationships in this field. To completely and quickly use knowledge of natural enemies, we present knowledge with domain ontology, build knowledge system for aphids and its natural enemies, study the serviceability of the knowledge system, and then research the fundamental issues about system integration. The conclusion summarized as follows:(1) Combined with the application demands and characteristics of the field, we design process of ontology construction, which make the ontology more field features and utility. On the basis of comparison and analyses, combining the characteristics of domain knowledge and system design goals, we put forward our own method and procedure to build ontology, and verify it with implementation, which formalize and clarify the knowledge of natural enemies of aphids.(2) Ontology of aphids and enemies is reusable and scalable. Through the creation of concepts, attributes, and individuals, the ontology can fully express knowledge in the field, and can use for the semantic description of other insects, which achieve a high degree of reuse of domain knowledge. Meanwhile, based on ontology, we develop the ontology management module with Jena reasoning, which allows the evolution and expansion of ontology.(3) Using ICTCLAS for Chinese word participles can get key words more accurately; expanding the concepts of key words by ontology can capture users'purposes.The innovations of this study include the following two aspects:(1) Research the construction of ontology model for aphid and its enemies, and design the procedure, then implement this ontology engineering with propriety methods and techniques.(2) On the basis of the domain ontology, develop the knowledge system of recognition of aphids and its natural enemies, and then, test and verify the knowledge system.
