Artillery location radar can track the projectiles in flight, and accurately calculate the enemy launching position, Because of this characteristic, artillery location radar has become the preferred weapons determined the launching position of the enemy fire support systems such as mortars, rocket weapons in the past ten years.This dissertation investigates the key techniques of artillery location radar with the cylindrical array antenna model. First of all, the cylindrical array antenna model gives 360 degree coverage which artillery location radar needs, so the artillery location radar uses the cylindrical array antenna model in the paper. Also using genetic algorithms to optimize its pattern synthesis and to synthesize the array beam pattern with low sidelobe. Then, introducing the modeling of the target echo and the signal processing, and perhaps the same beams may appear multiple warheads at the same time, so the paper describes two kinds of data association algorithm for multi-target tracking. A number of relevant content, such as tracking initiation and tracking end, are also explained in the paper. Finally, by tracking the projectiles in flight, using fourth-order Runge-Kutta method can calculate the enemy launching position.
