After experiencing the basic acknowledgment that data structure and algorithm are significant in software design, people realize that system architecture is also playing a more and more important role, and is becoming crucial to the success of the software development. Message-Driven System Architecture (MDSA) has played a practical significance in solving the problem of communication between different systems and in rebuilding architecture for legacy systems.This thesis analyses the fundamental concepts of Message-Driven and related system architecture patterns. According to the specific requirement of financial payments, payment system architecture model is designed. Considering the system feasibility and reducing costs of maintenance, a payment system architecture based on MDSA is proposed.After discussing the modern popular constructing techniques in MDSA, JMS and MOM(Message Oriented Middleware) are chosen as the technique platform. Using the message process unit module, all the main operating functions of the payment system are designed and implemented. The implemented payment system based on MDSA has achieved the goal of effective communication between different systems, and solved problems in traditional system, such as lack of reuse and high costs in maintenance.Finally, we hope this thesis could provide useful reference in architecture choice, system design, evolution and optimization for those who want to solve the communication problem between different systems and those who want to rebuild architecture for the legacy system.
