Compared with the traditional video on demand, multicast technology can solve the problem that how to transmit the data from one source to many destinations or from many sources to many destinations through the network effectively. The multicast technology is extended in IPv6, more development opportunities have been made for IPv6-based multimedia by the supporting of extended multicast, Flow Class and Flow Label, better quality of service (QoS) can be provided.With the development of campus network IPv6 technology upgrading project, IPv6 applications gradually become universal, extensive businesses with IPv6 multicast technology begin to appear in campus network. However, in the campus network of IPv6 multicast, there are many problems in the management of multicast address, multicast sources and multicast users. The existing IPv6 multicast technologies focus on the IPv6 multicast protocols and the standardization of multicast security, the multicast user authentication and access control can't be supported by the multicast protocols, any multicast source can send multicast data in the network freely; the multicast users can join in any multicast group at will; the multicast sources can't know when the user will join in or leave a multicast group, nor can get the statistic of how many uses are receiving multicast data at a time; the lack of planning and management of the multicast address resulted in the conflict of multicast streams and the spread of illegal multicast sources.In this paper, starting with the existing condition of the campus network equipments, combined with the characteristics of IPv6 multicast protocol and IPv6 three hierarchical network model:access, aggregation and core, by the study of the mechanism of PIM-SSM model in the campus IPv6 network, using the supporting of multicast on the distributed access switches and aggregation switches and the controllability of the multicast messages, implement the controllable multicast technology. A framework of IPv6 PIM-SSM controllable multicast application system was proposed, combined with design and realization of the key components, such as the multicast management server, the multicast authentication server, the multicast security policy server and the multicast control server, establishes the control and management of the multicast address, the multicast source and receiver, realizes the real-time monitoring multicast running, thereby protectes the management and control of multicast businesses orderly in the IPv6 campus network.
