Analysis On Visualization Among Spatial Relationship Based On Patent Citation Network

Knowledge innovations, has made a rapid science and technology progress, thus more and more countries have realized that, knowledge, is a very important factor in society property. As the carrier of science and technology, patents, is playing a key part in the technology competition between countries, and the literatures attached to the patents can be transferred into new knowledge. All patents including the information cited from other patents and literatures, form a new modus of knowledge flow. And these build up a huge citing network between different knowledge and patents. So, by studying the links and relations between patents, people can predict the direction and trends of the technology development, and this can be used to guide the overall development of science and technology business, as well as the patents business.Based on basic properties of patens, this paper develops the traditional space concept into geography and technology spaces, and analysis the intercountry and technology citing links by studying the citing network in geography and technology spaces respectively, as well as the intercountry citing between different technological departments. In order to make objects researches comprehensively. In the geography space analysis, all patents granted in US during 1987 to 2006 have been taken into consideration in this paper. By studying the relations between those references, the status of the patent citing can be analyzed. Make macro-based level researches. The citing relations between different countries on a macro-based level are analyzed by studying the juncture of the citing links from geography and technology spaces in different technological departments.By using of the visualization software, the two kinds of links or trends can be visualized intuitively, also the analysis of these nodes are presented and whole network.Finally, by analyzing both the citing and cited data from USPTO in both regional and technology aspects, this paper tries to find possible reasons of disparities between national technology competitions, and comes up with strategies for special circumstances of China in patents development.
