The museum is not only a center of collecting and researching specimens, but also a management center of specimens. It is a key element of the research work that how reasonably and proper and scientific to manage specimens.Into the twenty-first century, with modern information science and technology advances in the management of museum specimens appeared a revolutionary improvement. Using the computer to manage the museum's specimens greatly enhances the working efficiency, Using computer, Internet, database and other technical to building a web-based digital specimen management platform for remote sharing of resources, has become a museum specimen management development trends. Therefore, in accordance with national standards and norms related to developing a specimen management platform system can be a powerful impetus to the work of museum collections management and more scientific construction. It will be the advancement on development and promotion of public-oriented communication technology.Jilin University Museum (JLUM) has a long history of half century. The work of specimen's management was behind the specific conditions. In this paper, the author using software engineering ideas, analyzed the characteristics of the museum specimens, tailored to develop a new Web Platform System for JLUM manage the specimen resources. The system has many advantages, such as friendly windows, simple operation, easy maintenance and high reliability. In the evaluation and application, we had tested the system. The system was considered on reached the design requirements.JLUM Web Platform system uses a back-end database for the SQL Server database, programming using the C # and .Net. C # is Microsoft's launch of a run on the .NET Framework on top of high-level object-oriented programming language, which is designed for .NET applications developed language, with the application of the rapid development capabilities, while inherited the advantages from C and C + +, it has perfect combination with .NET Framework.. NET to build a new generation operating system of the Internet. It extends the Internet design ideas for developers to create applications with device-independent and easy Internet connection. .NET is really just a general term, which includes Microsoft's core strategy, plans and for the foreseeable future. .NET Framework is the core of this strategy. .NET is about the future of computing as a concept. The idea is that XML Web services, it is the basic building blocks of distributed computing in Internet. .NET system includes a wide range of family, they are built on Internet standards and the XML language above the user's Web services development, management and application environment. .NET development platform system consists of five parts: basic services, servers, terminal equipment and customer service.SQL Server is Microsoft's relational database management system, it has integrated with the Internet, enterprise-level database functionality, scalability, scalability and availability, ease for installation, deploy and use. It has data warehouse, and related software integration high level. It can be across from a notebook running Microsoft Windows 98 computers to running Microsoft Windows 2003 large-scale multi-processor servers and many other platforms. SQL Server 2000 includes extraction and analysis of aggregate data for online analytical processing (OLAP) tools.The order of the development of JLUM Web Platform System is promoting the museum specimens resources management, enhance scientific and technological innovation capability, as a data sources to connect the national science and technology platforms. The development will use of information, database, Internet and other modern technology.The development and applications of the software is based on museum specimens characterized. JLUM Web Platform System includes user login, specimen data management, sharing of data management and system management functional parts.1. Login PartThe module is mainly in the registry system, through the user name and password, as well as IP to verify the legality of the system users.2. Specimen Data Management PartThe module is mainly for specimens of the common data and individual data for management, which includes four sub-modules: paleontological data management, rock data management, ore data management and resource data management. These four specimen data management sub-modules design has a lot of commonality, so this paper selected the paleontological data management sub-module as the representative for detailed introduce the user interface and module design. Specimen data management modules include the new data records, query, modify, delete, browsing history and other functions, can use the button for data query screen management, through these operations to achieve the right specimen management.3. Sharing Platform Data Management PartShared platform data management module could connect and share data with the country's natural resources platform (E platform). The module only be use the system administrator or designated users have operating privileges. The module also could query and delete shared data.4. System Management PartSystem management module is setting for "system administrator". It includes IP address management, recycling, role management, and members of the management of several parts, through the operation of these sub-modules user rights assigned to realize the system.The system uses a modular and structured analysis and design method for software design. In the paper cited the overall design and sub-modules of the system detailed design programs and ideas, as well as specific steps. System use'.NET AyList collection'to option multi-object, and combined HtmlInputFile file to make upload control, to achieve picture and multi-file reading. System designed the specimen type code editing part for expand the reserved space in features.The system gets through the test about the operating environment, software and hardware interface. It arrive at a better software applications, each sub-module design features can be accomplished smoothly, with good fault tolerance, basically meet the user's design requirements.At present, the software has been applied on JLUM, we had built a database web site (http://59.72.66.69). Now, the system has input 5000 various types specimens information. It has uploaded more than 2000 number (pieces) share dates to the national platform. JLUM has achieved the computerization, digital issues of specimen management from the technical by our system.Finally, it is the summarized of this paper, and some suggestions of software maintenance for future.
