With development of computer technology, jacquard CAD/CAM technology is constantly improved. Jacquard simulation is one of the most fascinating areas of jacquard CAD/CAM. Jacquard simulation can show the appearance and structure of jacquard products to the designers and this helps them to modify design of jacquard products. The jacquard manufactures can shorten the production cycle and reduce costs.This thesis introduces technology of jacquard simulation, including 2D simulation, 3D simulation and comparison between them. A method to implement 3D simulation of jacquard based on yarn modeling is proposed in this paper. And we design and deploy jacquard 3D simulation software through this method.The main contents and contributions of this thesis are:First, this thesis describes the modeling methods of yarn. Some definitions of yarn parameters are given, including yarn diameter, yarn spacing, yarn tension, etc. Cycle and ellipse is used to represent the cross-section of yarn, while cubic B-spline segments and line segments are interconnected to represent buckling shape of yarns. And we compute the yarn model through coordinate transformation.Then, this thesis introduces representation of jacquard weave information in computers. According to the weave information, this thesis analyzes the structure of jacquard and computes locations of each yarn in the jacquard by stratifying yarns at each interlacing. Jacquard model is then established based on yarn modeling, and either lighting model or texture mapping is applied t o improve the reality to the results.Finally, this thesis implements the algorithm proposed in this thesis and analyzes the detailed results. The software for 3D simulation of jacquard based on this algorithm is then realized and deployed.
