| The rapid development of information technology, network technology in particular, people now have access to a wide variety of digital oceanographic information resources. However, the disorder and tangle of these resources has been a great obstacle to college teachers, researchers and college students who have great demands of these resources. As an institution collecting, reorganizing, developing and providing information resources for key and characteristic disciplines, the university library has the rights and obligations to offer accurate, timely and effective oceanographic information resources for its users.This research paper summarizes the definition, types and features of digital oceanographic information resources, describes the current distribution of these resources, and puts forward the index system, steps and methods of evaluating these resources. Based upon the author's practical work and research data, the author discusses the characteristics and rules of user' demands of oceanographic information resources, and discusses the influence of network environment on users' demands. The university library has a lot of difficulties in effectively reorganizing various kinds of oceanographic information resources, such as the complicated distribution of the resources, the difficulties of collecting them, the non-standardization of the information service system, the shortage of complicated information service workers, and lack of efficient information-sharing mechanism. In this sense, university libraries have to try every means to collect and reorganize those most important and useful information resources to meet the needs of the development of key and characteristic disciplines. Several ways of organizing digital oceanographic information resources have been put forward in this paper. The author, with personal working experience service's and own diagnoses, by means of qualitative and quantitative analysis,theoretic and applied research, By analyzing the specific situation of the development of the oceanographic discipline and user'different demands in Shandong University at Weihai, the author argues that university libraries should strengthen the building of oceanographic information resources, optimize service environment, and improve and innovate their ways of providing digital oceanographic information resources. Its ultimate purpose is to provide better professional services as well as ancient and modern social and scientific achievements for teaching and research so as to promote a better and full development of the cause of library with the development of monographic information resources. |
