Three-dimensional medical image visualization is one of the most successful visualization in scientific computing applications. And it is one hotspot after the technology of medical image segmentation. Medical workers observe on the human body more intuitive, more clearly, make more effective diagnostic solutions and enhance the efficiency of diagnosis througth the research of visualization in medical images. In this thesis, the current maturity algorithm is applied to medical image 3D visualization technology. Mainly content includes discussion of medical image volume data segmentation and the technology of visualization on medical images.In this thesis, the main researches are the following:1) Researching and realising the technology of medical image volume data segmentation. This thesis describes common medical image segmentation methods, techniques and algorithms, focusing on region growing algorithm and the regional division algorithm in medical image segmentation applications. On the basis of the advantages and disadvantages of them, this thesis gives a research on the octree splitting merging algorithm, which can accurately and efficiently partition the body of data segmentation processing. The experiment of results proves that the new method is more effective for the segmentation.2) Researching and realising the technology of three-dimensional visualization.In the aspect of volume rendering, this thesis emphasizes on the basic principle and implementation procedure of Ray Casting algorithm, it also discusses the key technology of Ray Casting algorithm such as illumination model, picture composition and setting of transfer function.3) Designing one system of medical image volume data segmentation and visualization. In order to get a better analysis of medical image, this thesis discusses the DICOM3.0 standard medical image formats. At last, we can design a complete system, which can segment the medical images and the result is used to three-dimensional visualization. The experiment of results show that the study of the volume data segmentation and visualization that are more practical for clinical diagnosis and treatment, as well as providing a better medical teaching aids.This thesis focuses on three-dimensional visualization technology and design medical image volume data segmentation and visualization system. There is more significance for improving the application of the value of medical image data through this research.
