Digital electronic control technology has been mostly applied to gas turbine control system. Most domestic independently developed digital electronic controllers are the central controller, the control software reuse rate is low, research and development cycle is long, the reliability improvement has been constrained. But there is a trend of developing the control systems with general modules in western countries. Improving China's gas turbine control system design level, and developing independent intellectual property rights of gas turbine control system have become increasingly urgent.The constitute and working principle of common gas turbine control system are firstly introduced, and then the development and the main technology adapted in each stage are expounded, the necessity of control software design based on the real-time ethernet is discussed. It is determined to develop electronic controller based on EtherCAT on the basis of comparative analysis to several industrial control networks, and then carries out the design of its control system. In the process of implementing control system, the paper designs an EtherCAT master station based on the PowerPC processor of MPC5200B, and several EtherCAT slave stations based on the DSP processor of TMS320F2812. The EtherCAT master station software and the slave stations software are developed. At last, the real-time performance of EtherCAT bus are tested between the EtherCAT master station and the EtherCAT slave stations, the feasibility of the design is verified. The research shows that gas turbine control system has the advantages of good software real-time, easy software maintenance and high reliability and so on. It is the development direction of gas turbine control system design.
