The needs of safety and reliability in modern industrial process system is increasing, fault diagnosis technology has become an important field of research in control area, its development and application has been paid more and more attention. But because many control systems are complexity, nonlinear, coupling and so on, it put forward higher requirements about the system modeling and fault diagnosis method, this paper was to research the bond graph model and the use of bond graph model for fault diagnosis.First, this paper describes research background and development status of fault diagnosis technology in the control system, analysis the basic ideas and features of the existing types of fault diagnosis; Regard to the limitations of traditional relationships based on analytical redundancy and fault tree diagnosis, this paper refers to application of bond graph model for fault diagnosis.Secondly, it exposes the power bond graph in detail, bond graph model is based on the energy conservation law, describing power transmission, transformation, storage, and dissipation. Its advantage is that it can manage various forms of energy systems by an uniform approach, also it can reveal the composition of the interaction between system components and the energy conversion relations directly, it has become a very effective dynamic modeling and analysis method in multi-domain.Again, the paper discusses particularly the two fault diagnosis methods using the bond graph model, namely the analytical redundancy relations based on bond graph model and the fault tree based on bond graph model. And it takes double-tank water level control system as an object, the simulation confirmes both methods are correct and effective.The results show that the two fault diagnosis methods based on bond graph model can effectively compensate for the deficiencies of traditional methods, and they can be applied to control system fault diagnosis reasonably.
