Delay/Disrupt Tolerant Networks is an emerging network technology developed in recent years. It is mainly used in challenged networks characterized by long or variable delay, intermittent connectivity, asymmetric data rates and high error rates. As it is suitable for specific communication environment, DTN has practical application in military, transportation, marine monitor and satellite communications once upon released. and has became a research hotspot in many countries. The robustness of DTN has led to the complexity and diversity of routing algorithm. In recent years, researchers have developed various routing algorithms and protocols for different environments. The performance of DTN, such as end-to-end delivery ratio. delay in submission, network overhead and network lifetime, is closely related to the behavior of mobile nodes. These mobile nodes generally have only limited resources, such as limited power, limited bandwidth, limited storage space, limited computing resources and so on. It is easily prone to congestion because of multi-copy routing. Therefore, it is of great significance to investigate DTN routing algorithms and routing protocols under the conditions of limited resources for alleviating network congestion. increasing network lifetime and improving network performance. One of the hotspot is how to use the limited resources available at DTN nodes more efficiently in delay tolerant network. To increase the network lifetime and avoid random and blindfold forwarding decision in Spray and Wait routing in delay tolerant network, Energy Aware Spray and Wait routing is proposed in this paper. Energy of node left is used to make forwarding decision is EASW.Furthermore, we evaluate EASW through simulations versus Spray and Wait routing protocol and epidemic routing protocol in this paper. The experimental results demonstrate that the new protocol has a better delivery probability and latency. In addition, EASW also increase the network lifetime. The major work and innovations of this paper are as follows: 1. We study and analyze the existing routing protocols and algorithms in delay tolerant network, discuss the implementations and application scenarios of each protocol, and show the adversely affect on network performance under the current situation.2. There are two strategies in spray stage of existing spray and wait routing protocol:source spray and binary spray. In delay tolerant network environment, there are many nodes with limited energy and lifetime. These two spray strategies likely to result in node energy exhausted and network division increased. Considering node lifetime, we propose energy-aware spray and wait routing protocol. The protocol can improve the connectivity of the network and has a better delivery probability and latency.3. We build DTN routing protocol simulation environment in TheONE simulation platform to compare the existing protocol and the improved protocol.
