In the field of petroleum exploration and development, the scientific visualization technology is in great application. It could utilize the 2D-Visualization of contour maps, well maps, shade maps, vector maps and image maps to express a large number of non-intuitive and abstract data clearly and visually, in the reservoir model. Through these maps, the researchers could discover various geological features, such as sedimentation, stratum, structures and reservoirs, and distribution information of gas and petroleum, thus providing favorable conditions for determining the explorative direction and exploitation plans. Although the 2D-Visualization technology has been developed for 30 years, the development of object-oriented technology and reservoir description technology endues it more livingness. In this paper, therefore, object-oriented layer technology two-dimensional visualization software was designed and implemented by means of the object-oriented technology to improve contour mapping algorithm, well position mapping algorithm, smooth mapping algorithm. The main innovations and research content involve as follows:Firstly, this paper introduces a new realization of 2D-Visualization based on object-oriented technology, which is different from the traditional process. It is divided into three modules:visualization data, the data read, visualization mapping and visualization post-processing.Secondly, the data pre-processing methods and contour tracking algorithm, well position algorithm, wells name algorithm, contour labeling and other algorithms were studied. The algorithm was encapsulated by means of object-oriented method to improve its maintainability and reusability. The common data interface class and grid class were built to facilitate data exchange, and the layer technique was also applied to further improve the display quality of contour map, well position map, grid maps, well name map, ect.Thirdly, based on layer two-dimensional visualization software was designed and implemented to meet the function of reservoir system. This system can not only accurately draw the contour map, well position map, well name map, contour map labeled, but also enhance graphics editing, convenient human-computer interaction.Fourthly, the result of field data analysis, system design and run examples showed that the system of two-dimensional visualization of reservoir model has the characteristic of high real-time, interconnected, interactive and operational flexibility, and easy maintenance and extension.
