Interactive system design mainly includes interaction design and software architecture design of user-interface. The pre-existing interaction design and software architecture design of user-interface are to satisfy the demand of office staff. It enables to meet the office users' requirements of effectiveness and efficiency. This provides usability of office applications for users, namely, traditional usability. The usability of office applications emphasizes on providing the right "Look-and-Feel". There are two aspects of the characteristics of the interactive system design. On the one hand, users are required to operate on the atomic level; On the other hand, the design of the interactive system laid emphasis on working effectiveness and efficiency, assuming that the users can understand the business information and operation on the user-interface of interactive system. With the soaring development of pervasive computing environment, the group of computer users is no longer limited to office personnel. At the same time, the tasks what the users want to do with computer are not confined to handling official business. In daily life, the chance of common people making use of computer to complete businesses increases day by day. The existing technology of interactive system design can't meet the folks'demand of the usability for the pervasive computing. So how to provide usable interactive systems, which are easy to learn, to understand and to manipulate for the common users, has become an issue of universal concern in current research. This paper is just based on this problem for research. In order to develop the usable system for the folks, this paper proposes pervasive usability, by analyzing the problem of the traditional usability in pervasive computing environment. To be able to model the requirement of the pervasive usability, this paper inducts perceptual control model. From the aspects of psychology, perceptual control model believes that all behaviors involve control. It emphasizes that designers should consider what information users want to see and control, rather than consider what action users need to execute. The greatest advantage of the model is to enable to deal with external disturbances, which other models are not able to. Firstly this paper puts perceptual control into task analysis of user-interface, and it aims to present the user task-related information on the user interface, achieving share control. Secondly this paper puts perceptual control into the interactive style design of user interface, in order to narrow the gap between users and user-interface. Thirdly this paper puts perceptual control into building the architecture, so as to solve the nonlinear relationship between the user-interface and application core. Finally this paper provides the solution to the problem of modeling usability in pervasive computing environment, for the purpose of verifying the viability and validity of this method.
