Pervasive computing is another new computing mode after mainframe computing and desktop computing, with the new features in universality, adaptability and convenience. Unlike the traditional computing environment, ubiquitous computing environment has distinctive features in openness, mobility and heterogeneity, and that brings some new challenges for the communication between the user and the system. In synchronous mode, the application system treats the event of connection broken as an exception. In pervasive computing environment, however, it would often happen that the connections between the user and the server disconnects temporarily because of the limitation of wireless networking and mobile facilities. The application system will probably cannot work as usual. So we need to use the asynchronous and loose coupling communication mode to adapt the application needs under pervasive computing environment. The loosely coupled of time, space and control and the advantage of multicast of publish/subscribe makes it become an ideal communication mode for software modules. Publish/subscribe mode makes it possible for the asynchronous communication between the user and the application system, but it doesn't support the disconnected event of mobile applications. We must improve the performance of publish/subscribe according to the features of pervasive computing, and then makes it support these mobile applications. We first researched the features of pervasive computing and its environments, summarized the different features of communication mode, and brought the publish/subscribe mode with asynchronous and loose coupling feature into the pervasive computing application system. We then improved the traditional publish/subscribe mode for its deficiency in pervasive computing environment. Took the example of one concrete pervasive computing application project (museum application system), we designed and implemented the asynchronous interactive system modules based on publish/subscribe mode. The solution for disconnection event was resented, and at last the supporting problem for mobile application of publish/subscribe mode was solved.
