With the development of technoLogy and the improvement of the people's living standards, automobiles were becoming more and more popular, auto detection technoLogy has been hyper growth, and the automatic detection means was widely used. Based on the above background,a automotive instrument detection system which based on stereoscopic vision technoLogy was put forward in this paper to replace the traditional manual detection method and achieve fast and accurate measurement of automobile instrument.In this paper, research results were as follows:1. The image feature extraction and stereoscopic vision system design of the visual inspection. The image processing methods and algorithms of the visual inspection technoLogy were represented mainly from the edge detection, stereo matching, 3D reconstruction etc. For more accurate of the edge detection, an improved algorithm was used in this paper and the rationality of this method was proven by experiment.2. The automotive instrument detection system was studied based on stereo vision technoLogy. According to the normal requirement of motor meter and the principle of stereoscopic vision system, the theory of stereoscopic vision was combined with the practical application to complete the development of each module and process design.3 The detecting system was studied based on stereoscopic vision. Through the research and analysis of the vehicle speed odometer test shows that the detection system has achieve the car meter intelligent and accurate measurement.The main innovation of this study point to:1. The automobile instrument detection method was proposed based on the stereoscopic vision. The stereoscopic vision technoLogy was selected and the structure of three-dimensional motion was used to justify the center of the sticky camera and measurement instrumentation. An intelligent instrument detection system was designed which use the image acquisition and processing technoLogy theory.2 .For the use of message communication mechanism between the DSP image processing module and PC, the image processing was completed in the DSP which meet the requirements of the real-time for instrumentation.3 .Through the improvement of lines two-dimensional characteristics Hough transform algorithm, a new algorithm was designed to ensure instrument calibration lines and the exact position of the pointer lines.A automotive instrument detection system which based on stereoscopic vision was designed in this paper, and it can automatic detect the basic performance of the motor meter and complete the accurate detection of the auto meter basic error.
