P2P (Peer to Peer) is a kind of thinking rather than a technique in network field. It makes the network world more open and it is a typical presentation that everyone is concerned. The P2P has changed the Internet from the big-websites centered to the non-centered and returned the rights to the users. The fast developing of embedded systems makes the multimedia applications based on embedded systems more and more popular. More and more manufactures based on embedded system technology, such as intelligent mobile, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and STB (Set Top Box), go deep into our ordinary lives and workings. With the development of high-definition television, there is an increasing demand to the high-definition contents. In the current network environment, the combination of P2P technique and embedded devices can effectively save the server's bandwidth, meet the STB users' demand for downloading or watching high-definition contents on the Internet. In this thesis, we first discuss the theory, network structure, application and the open questions of P2P technique. And then, we discuse the feasibility and necessity of the integration of the embedded technology and P2P based on the analysis of the characteristics and demands of embedded systems. We also analyze the embedded system-oriented network architecture and the key techniques of P2P based on the project:Union Operation Platform for High-Definition Content - E Channel supported by Hisense Group and 21ViaNet (China), Inc. The key techniques are contents distribution technique, resource management strategy, search algorithm and data transmission algorithm. The current status of the P2P networks, the structure's characteristics and the actual services' demand are illustrated. Then, we propose a reasonable and feasible network system structure for P2P-PCDN and a kind effective method for contents distributing and resource managing. Through deeply discussing the E-Channel project, we conclude some valuable experiences.Running for half a year, the proposed system has offered the customer more stable services, and saved the bandwidth of the server platform. The E-Channel project is helpful for the development of P2P based on embedded systems, the constructing of P2P network and the management of P2P resources.
