The Study On Application Of Multi-dimensional Database In Container Multimodal Transportation

Container multimodal transportation is a transportation using container as the transport unit. It constitutes a continuous, comprehensive, integrated transport network to provide customers a convenient service by using varies of modes of transport, so it have been widely used. However, due to container multimodal transportation involved in the process of complex data and the situation, it brings many difficulties in the management of Container Multimodal Transportation. In this case, the information of container multimodal transportation is particularly important. On the other hand, multi-dimensional database has developed rapidly, it has been used widely in the enterprise, multi-dimensional database technology has become a mature technology, it has been a good decision-making in the management of the application of precedent.This paper analyzes the problems and factors which affect the container multimodal transportation and then produces the multi-dimensional database technology and related technology.Based on the analysis of container multimodal transportation, this paper constructs a logical model of a multidimensional database by using snowflake schema, and sets up the cost of transportation, cargo type, container volume, choice of mode of transport for many key performance indicators, and designs a simple physical model. On the whole,it is realistic.After the model design, the multi-dimensional database has been applied. First clean and load data by using SQL Server 2005 SSIS tools, then it designs a multi-dimensional database and analyzes the data of container multimodal transportation, it observes data from many dimensions. Finally, it use data mining in the database and make front display by using Excel 2007. This paper expects providing some supports for the decision in the management of container multimodal transportation by the application of data warehouse and data mining.
